About Us
The author is a seasoned, published world traveler who has been to all 50 states and have visited many of the locations that appear in American Location Names: The Story Behind Them book.
Significant research has been done to learn the story behind the names that are included in this book. The stories are informative, entertaining, surprising and a good subject in historical, educational and trivia conversations with friends and family.
Images are also included in the Book and Instagram web site. Periodic trip updates and photo reviews of the various locations are provided as well as ongoing updates to the content of the book as they are discovered by the authors and supplied by readers and members in their own pursuits. All guest and member submissions are curated. Periodic workshops and blogs are provided on the etymology of American Location Names.

Later in America's development many names originated by inventors, entertainers, TV shows, public figures, the U.S. Postal Service and railroads. Did you know that there was even a movement to create a 14th state called "Franklin," after America's noted Ben Franklin?
America also has a large number of highly suggestive names that have unique stories behind them as well. If you know a little about the history of a location a starting point is to know how a place received its current name and maybe even how it changed over time. This will help you better appreciate where you are in the present moment.
